Biography:
Adam did his Ph.D. on the design and operation of a VHF wind-profiling radar at the University of Canterbury. Prior to joining Callaghan Innovation in 2016, Adam worked in fisheries acoustics at the National Institute for Water and Atmospheric Research where he was responsible for the design, calibration, and operation of scientific equipment during surveys lasting up to a month in remote offshore areas. He has expertise in instrumentation, calibration and system development. Adam has been involved in developing international protocols for calibrating acoustic systems and his research has ranged from acoustic data processing methodology to estimating acoustic backscatter from biological targets.
Adam now works on Time and Frequency metrology and is responsible for maintaining New Zealand’s Time Standard.
